It's official. Today on LinkedIn, I announced my new digital agency, WebSpark Digital. I had an unrational fear as I created the post that somehow I would get backlash or ridiculed for starting a business. I don't know why I felt that way. Perhaps it was the fact that I have tried so many things that have failed in the past. The experience was both nerveracking and exciting at the same time. It's much the same experience as buying that new car or a house you really want.

It took three weeks to get to this point. There's a lot of things that have to be done for a new business. While three weeks isn't long in the grand scheme of business, it has sure been grueling!

Putting up the website took a few days, including writing the content. It's not perfect, but I also know if there isn't a point where you flip the switch, the light may never turn on. Today I threw that switch and announced the business.

I have a lot of work to do in the immediate future. Digital Marketing, bringing in leads, trying to convert them to clients. The work is harder and takes longer than your 9 to 5 job for sure.

Starting a business is not a small choice. It shouldn't be taken lightly.

I was lucky in a way. My wife and I already knew that it was the right choice when it happened. We just looked at each other and said, "It's time." Almost immediately I dug in and began creating the business.

A Digital Marketing agency is one of the few businesses that can be started for almost no money too. You have to have the know-how and be really good at it. You also need to have sales skills, and with all the time I spent in the 90's selling cars and cell phones, I'm pretty good at both.

I have no idea where this new venture will take me, but I'm up for the challenge!
